Perched on a branch and circled by vargrs, Timriel seems utterly terrified. Not wanting to risk a fight with the beasts, you look for a way to frighten them off. If a tree fell very near them, that would probably be enough to make them run off like oryctuses. But to make sure you don't attract the beasts' attention while chopping, you have to find a tree that can be felled with a single blow of your ax.
