When the Falconers arrived in the Shortblades Mountains for the first time, they were surprised to see ratkins on rafts, sailing eastwards on the Cebrian river with dozens of animal bodies. The Falconers reasoned that the hybrids were maintaining commercial ties with a society living in the east. They followed the ratkins to discover the identity of these mysterious merchants, who'd never traded with humans before. They were stunned to find that the ratkins' partners were not humanoids, but looked much more like lions.
