You realize that the lizard must be able to sleep for months, maybe even years, without eating. Creatures who live underground seldom have good vision. Your scent is surely what woke it up, but you can certainly find a way to make it calm and sleepy. You leave the tunnel, leaving Valdekan wondering, and look for plants or animal droppings to camouflage your scent and make you unnoticeable to the creature.
A few minutes later, you come back and approach the beast while avoiding its line of sight. Now close to it, you employ a technique for calming large predators. After some time the lizard goes back to sleep. You signal Valdekan and the rest of your team to camouflage themselves.
