Good adventurers always keep at least a hemp rope in the backpack, a silk one if they're rich enough. You tie one end of your rope firmly on your side of the abyss, then make a slip knot at the other end. After that you try to catch a rock on the other side with your new lasso. There is little chance of success, but if you fail at least the fall won't last long. You only risk breaking a leg on the ice, drowning, or being torn to pieces by an unknown predator.
